Founded in July 2023, Kaizen Academy is more than a training center—it’s a movement built on experience, vision, and purpose.
Born from the personal journey of Coach Daqwane Alexander, Kaizen Academy was created to meet a real need: to give youth in underserved communities access to quality mentorship, discipline-building programs, and hands-on career pathways. With a unique blend of athletic training, vocational education, and character development, we’re helping young people unlock their potential—physically, mentally, and professionally.
Our name comes from the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen, meaning continuous improvement. That principle drives everything we do. Whether on the court or in the classroom, we believe that growth happens one step at a time—with the right tools, the right support, and the right mindset.
Coach D has been coaching and mentoring athletes since 2014, with experience spanning:
He also served honorably in the United States Marine Corps (2014–2019), where he sharpened his passion for fitness, leadership, and discipline—values he now brings to every young person he works with.
Beyond coaching, Coach D is deeply rooted in his community, serving as a Site Lead for the Benton Harbor Summer Impact Program (2021–present) and contributing to youth sports through the YMCA of Greater Michiana.
His life’s mission is simple but powerful: to empower others to become the best version of themselves—on the court, in the gym, and in life.
To be a transformative force in underserved communities by unlocking the potential in every individual through sports, fitness, vocational education, and mentorship—one skill, one step, one success at a time.
To empower youth and young adults through the lifelong pursuit of excellence in sports, fitness, and skilled trades. We develop the whole person—physically, mentally, and professionally—through hands-on training, personalized mentorship, and a values-driven environment.
Empowering youth through sports, trade skills, and mentorship—one step, one skill, one success at a time.
